A HISTORY OF TOILET PAPER (And other potty tools) by Sophia Gholz and Xiana Teimoy is a fun book on the history of toilet paper。 The illustrations and text match brilliantly。 Xiana’s humor in the character’s expression brings Sophia’s text to life。 I didn’t know the invention of paper and how that translates years and years later to become toilet paper is fascinating。 Kids and adults will enjoy and appreciate where something as simple as toilet paper comes from。 And all the thought that went int A HISTORY OF TOILET PAPER (And other potty tools) by Sophia Gholz and Xiana Teimoy is a fun book on the history of toilet paper。 The illustrations and text match brilliantly。 Xiana’s humor in the character’s expression brings Sophia’s text to life。 I didn’t know the invention of paper and how that translates years and years later to become toilet paper is fascinating。 Kids and adults will enjoy and appreciate where something as simple as toilet paper comes from。 And all the thought that went into it! 。。。more

Sophia Gholz's new title takes a fresh look at the history of something we take for granted - toilet paper。 With funny and engaging text that never crosses the line into tasteless potty humor, Gholz gives us the low-down on what humans used before the ubiquitous TP roll was invented。 And some of the ideas are, well, gross。 My personal favorite? A book about toilet paper, and the author pulled it off well! Not only is it funny, but it is also educational。 It is interesting to know that the common use of toilet paper didn't happen until recent history。 I can't imagine living at a time when it was not in existence。 What the Romans used and where they went to the bathroom was a bit shocking/surprising。 The art is colorful and charming and adds to the hilarity of the text。 Children will love this book。 A book about toilet paper, and the author pulled it off well! This book is awesome! Although nominally about toilet paper, it's really about a much broader area of technology。 I learned a lot about history, and the information is presented in a very funny way。 I would recommend this book to anyone。 Honestly, I never would have thought I'd enjoy a book about toilet paper so much! Hilarious and informative, A History of Toilet paper entertains while also giving a fascinating look at the history of toilet paper。 My 6 year old was shocked to learn that it took 195,000 years before humans invented toilet paper and the history of toilet practices had him giggling and wanting to read the book again。 Highly recommend for curious littles and potty humor lovers everywhere。

This book was a hoot! Sophia Gholz does a wonderful job detailing the history of human hygiene while also cracking hilarious potty jokes throughout。 My favorite tidbit of info that I learned about: the bum brush。 "Brush your bum and pass it on!" (Yes, it was a communal tool。) The illustrations cracked me up and were the perfect fit for this funny text。 The book has some interesting backmatter and a timeline as well。 A great book for adults and kids alike! Such a fun book to read about the history of toilet paper and other things potty related。 This will engage students from the first page!! Students will love learning something new about a common household product。 I am already thinking about all the writing activities students could do with this from choosing a random object to discover the history of to making timelines。

This book is so clever! I absolutely love it and will be getting it for my grandkids, for sure。 There is so much great information about the history of toilet paper, but there is not one dull moment。 Readers will ask, "Then what happened?" as they learn about each step to the invention of TP。 One of the many things that I love is that within that narrative, Gholz's descriptions and wordplay and Teimoy's illustrations ramp up the fun。 I highly recommend this book! Delightfully funny and totally true book! I usually am not a big fan of potty humor, but this book walked the line for me。 I found myself rounding up family members to share the fascinating details I learned。 A great example of lively, interesting nonfiction。The illustrations are a lot of fun--lots of funny details to enjoy。This book will be a big hit with kids and work with adult readers too。(I received free access to an advance reader electronic copy for this review。)
